This presentation covers some common myths and misconceptions about the VA disability compensation claims process, explains the "VA math" behind combining ratings, and dives into some lesser-known aspects such as bilateral factors and secondary conditions. It also discusses some best practices gleaned from VBA employees, fellow veterans, and personal experiences.
This is a recording of the presentation I gave at MilMoneyCon25 on May 15, 2025. Please note there are two small corrections I've learned since:
1) If you have conditions that affect all four limbs, all those conditions will be combined into one bilateral factor.
2) IBS and GERD are now able to be rated separately.
